Green on for Mean Green Game Day

It’s the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids football yelling
And everyone giving out a good cheer
It’s the most wonderful time of the year

It’s the hap-happiest season of all
With those ‘good play!’ greetings and post-win festivities
We’ll all have a ball
It’s the hap-happiest season of all!

It’s the worst-kept secret in the office: I am a football fan. I’m the happiest when my teams win, I’m inconsolable when they lose. Football posters already are adorning my office. And, because I am so excited, I’m already mentally making my plans for which Saturdays I will be enjoying in the friendly confines of Apogee Stadium.

If you’re like me, and already have those dates marked in your Google calendar, then you’re ready for the next step: planning your game day. Don’t forget about the Mean Green Game Day shuttle! Get the full #Dentoning experience with yummy eats and drinks downtown, then hop on the free shuttle bus that will take you right to the Apogee Stadium Pedestrian Bridge!

With so many games being in the evening this year, it’s a perfect day to pal around with the family, take in some shopping opportunities, pre-game a bit downtown with your green on, and then head right to the tailgating fields. Did we mention that the shuttle is completely free?

Coming from Denton? Love to support the Mean Green, but want to avoid the parking hassle near Apogee Stadium? It’s simple to park your car at the DCTA MedPark Station off of Colorado Boulevard and ride the A-train into downtown! They have a fare-free zone from MedPark to the Downtown Denton Transit Center, and there’s a shuttle that picks up right across the street in the City Hall parking. It couldn’t be easier.

On game days, make sure to stop in our Game Day Headquarters: the Discover Denton Welcome Center! Not only does a shuttle leave from directly outside, but it’s a great stop to possibly win some tickets, pick up your game day gear, and get info on the Mean Green and on Denton.

The Mean Green Game Day shuttle will pick up at:

  • Discover Denton Welcome Center (111 W Hickory St)
  • Downtown Denton Transit Center (600 E Hickory St)
  • East Side (117 E Oak St)
  • Apogee Stadium Transportation Center (Orange Lot)
  • Game Changers Sports & Arcade Grill (122 W Mulberry St)
  • Hickory-Industrial Intersection (217 E Hickory St)

The Mean Green open their season this Saturday against Abilene Christian University, before going on the road to SMU and Cal. Check out the North Texas Athletics website for tickets and get ready to throw those talons up. We’ll see y’all on Mean Green Game Days this fall!
