Paige Flink, CEO of The Family Place, shared her thoughts about this year’s event:

“This year has been challenging for many nonprofits. However, there’s no doubt that with this group leading the charge and championing the incredible work done at The Family Place, this year’s fundraiser will be the most successful yet despite COVID-19!”

Organizers looking back at last year’s fundraiser acknowledge one of the most rewarding years with over $1 million raised for The Family Place, and more than 14,000 cards sold. More than 50 new brands were added to the participating retailers and restaurants with more e-commerce participants for online shopping than ever.

Online Shoppers Unite!

It is not surprising that 2020 welcomes even more e-commerce participants since more and more people are shopping online during these times.

“We want to have a wide-range of retailers available online for people to still get their Partners Card deals without having to shop in-store,” shared Grace Dewar, Development Manager at The Family Place.

The Family Place has been helping victims of family violence in North Texas since 1978. The Dallas-based family violence agency empowers victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling, and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence. The Family Place provides everything needed to help victims become survivors.

Having to live with someone who hurts you during COVID-19 stay-at-home orders is unthinkable, but victims of family violence spend more and more time with their abusers. Stress, anxiety, and job loss leading to economic hardship are very real factors resulting in increased violence in families.

Since March, The Family Place has provided shelter to hundreds of women, children and men, answered hotline calls, and provided counseling to victims, as well as helping ensure that victims have the resources they need to rebuild their lives free from abuse.
